A couple of days ago i decided that waiting for the release of the PowerBook G5 was a bad idea because the laptop will never exist :) So I went to the local supermarket (LIDL) and bought a Targa Traveller 826T (the one with the gpl violation).
I got home, booted windows, downloaded a AMD64 2005.0 instalation and started deletting windows :)

After some time playing with the machine I am pretty much happy with it. Except alot of stuff does not work in Linux x86_amd64 :(

The wireless card is going to be very hard, there are no native drivers and even with ndiswrapper or driverloader i need a 64 bits windows driver that does not exist ( Ethernet controller: Linksys, A Division of Cisco Systems [AirConn] INPROCOMM IPN 2220 Wireless LAN Adapter (rev 01) ).
The sound does not work also. I have no idea why i found alot of persons with strange problems but they all had some sort of sound, i tried the atiixp driver but all alsa tools say i have no sound card ( Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4370 (rev 01) ).

Last (but not least) I have one extra very strange problem. Time goes realy fast in this machine. A simple “sleep 10″ will return me to the console in some 5 seconds.

If any one has ideas I would really apreciat them. I’ll use this post to update the info.

Subethaedit is one killer aplication if you have a Mac running OSX. Wikipedia lists some other applications for collab edition, I tried most of them and they all had serious problems.
But one I liked so much that i imported it to portage. Right now it is very basic but the developer team seems friendly and working hard on the project, so if you want to try it do a emerge app-text/gobby (it is ~x86) and give it a spin.
The roadmap contais some very interesting feature additions (like Zeroconf support) so a full featured colab editor is almost done :)

I had this idea and tought of putting it here so that i dont loose it. A gpg pluggin for firefox that would enable communication with the server using gpg. I know that ssl does the trick, but my idea was to be able to have data on the server encripted with gpg and only the client can see it. This way some types of services could be more easely deploid, like cases where the data must not be available even to the provider/administrator of the service.

Have to develop this a bit more, but i like this idea.
