The company I work for (WIT-Software) launched it’s new corporate identity a few days ago. The new web site is up since…… some 15 minutes ago :) .

WIT-Software

I hope you all like the new logo and image.

  1. Can you please tell me the reasoning behind the decision of making a company’s website such as yours using Flash?

    I’m genuinely curious. Honestly.

Sorry, but it looks like the very first Flash sites in the 90′s…

Para visualizar esta página é necessário JavaScript e o Flash Player 8 ou superior.

  4. I don’t like the logo – I can’t read it. Also, the website only works with JavaScript and Flash, without alternative, which sucks. Even for those with Flash, the site has issues: I was thinking that no produts had descriptions yet, since I clicked on them to get an empty box. Only when I talked with someone, leaving the page for a while, I noticed that it had info – it just takes a lot of time to load (and I have a speedy connection).

Sorry, but overall, the site sucks.

  5. Some say that if one isn’t on Google, one doesn’t exist. WIT software just disappeared from the Internet as of today :)

a company such as yours should have thought through before engaging in such a change.

Besides the problems already pointed out : unbelievable slowness even after caching; flash from the 90′s (I’ve done this sort of “bling-bling” when flash was called FutureSplash…), imperceptible logo (anyone care to translate what is that grey “shadow” ? is it in binary or morse code or … ?? ), no static alternative, etc etc; besides the problems with content not showing, or lack of it is some cases; besides the “contextual breadcrumb” not being linked, the jumps on the “animations”, the fact that not even a simple “mailto:x@xpto.com?Subject=ref0111″ on the jobs section was included; the email to the sales dep. in the contact page is not even linked; the partnership content is not even explored (how about some marketing yada yada here?); the same goes to the customers content (not mentioning that the first impression one gets is that you guys work mainly for vodafone and all other clients are accessories to your activity); the text is illegible in most “folders” and in some cases in the content graphics (white on light lilac ? )
and a lot of other tweaks that should have been tested before going life
besides all this, what really bother me was seeing the made by “xpto” … and then checking out the company who made it, namely the work experience. It is understandable that workload doesn’t allow internal development but if your company chooses to outsource it, there are a lot of “serious” companies out there who would take this work out of your back and make something presentable to your present and future clients.

Finally, it goes without saying, the online image strategy failed completely considering the range of software WIT develops and more importantly the company’s target clients.

(I know it’s not your fault Gustavo; it’s also nothing that hasn’t been said to your colleagues who are currently here.)

Actually, this is one of the things that surprised me the most: supposedly Wit is strong in the mobile market, and most mobile devices don’t have Flash capabilities…
