Well, this is my first english post ( if one does not count with songs lyrics ) on a mostly portuguese blog.
And this is because I’m going to start to talk here about my work as a Gentoo Developer.
Right now i do most of my work in things related to Instant Messaging (IM). I maintain jabberd (a free jabber server) and many transports ( Gateways to other IM systems ). Clients to IM systems ( psi for jabber, skype and mercury a java based MSN client ). But i also do stuff in other areas, namely ftpd servers like proftpd and pureftpd.
Righ now I’ve been working with the Gentoo Java team to include a series of packages needed for proper integration of Mercury, you can follow the progress in gentoo’s bugzilla entry #77141
Also of note is the work in bug #39395 about having a proper integration of jabberd 2.0 in Gentoo. This is taking alot of time due to the structural diferences between jabberd 1.4 and 2.0 . A proper migration path is something really hard.
